Centennial Plaza

Project Summary

Riverside Community College District designed Centennial Plaza in Riverside, California. The project included construction of three new structures:

  • Culinary Arts Academy and District Offices – 4 stories, 60k sq. ft. building
  • Coil School for the Arts – 2 stories, 49k sq. ft. building
  • Parking Structure – 4 levels, 75k sq. ft.

Centennial Plaza also includes the Okubo Gallery, a restored 10k sq. ft. single-story bank building that was originally constructed in 1926 and restored as a two-level exhibition gallery and research facility, honoring Riverside artist Miné Okubo.

Our Role

IFE conducted the geotechnical engineering investigation, geoseismic evaluation, Phase I environmental site assessment, and Phase II environmental field sampling and investigation. Our services were provided in accordance with California’s Title 24 requirements and addressed foundation design (shallow and deep foundations), liquefaction and seismically-induced settlement, expansive soils, and site earthwork.
